Poppies

Taken at the Bishops Palace, Wells in Somerset.  Each poppy was hand made by over 4000 local school children to remember more than 8000 soldiers from the local area, who lost their lives fighting during the First World War.

Idea for the poppies credited to Dan Vilder, a teacher.

The sun had his hat on…

…So the camera came out to play – briefly.  I have some Asters (I think?) in the front garden.  I thought they looked quite pretty in the sunshine, so took a few photographs to try and capture their colours.  Obviously, I don’t think the black and white shot works very well on that front here!

The Importance of being Cropped

So yesterday in the snow, I spotted a daffodil in the garden poking out from under the snow.  I don’t think I got the white balance quite right, as the snow is a little grey looking, but I’m mostly happy with it.  What I can’t work out is the composition I prefer.  In the gallery below, the subject matter is all the same, I’ve just cropped the images differently.  Which do you prefer?

Flowers

A favourite subject of mine, flowers and all things mother nature provides!
