So, finally…we may have cracked it! I say ‘we’ because this wouldn’t be possible without having a rather handy software engineer as a husband. He has written me a little programme that allows me to drop photos I want watermarking into a folder. I then run the programme and the watermarked images appear in another folder in a matter of seconds.
This seems to be the workaround needed for the rather flaky free watermark plug-ins that are available in Word Press. My main problems with the Plug Ins I tried were:
- Bulk watermark rarely worked on all images.
- Failed to apply to any images I had cropped.
- I ended up with multiple watermarks on an image which didn’t look professional (see below!)

I’m hoping I can now still use a watermark plug-in that stops people being able to right click and copy images, but with a huge watermark on them, that should be a big deterent anyway!
Below I’ve shown some examples of my homemade watermarks, applied using my husband’s programme.
My preference is Example 2. I think I’ll try it on a colour image too, just to see how it stands out. It also might need to be a little smaller, to be a bit less obtrusive! I tried the watermark on a colour pic (see pic below). Doesn’t stand out as much, so think I’ll just need to twiddle with the transparency and colour of the font and then I then it’ll be spot on.

But still, almost…success! Yayyyy.
