I’m noticing a day after I have published a post, I get a mini flurry of comments for me to moderate.\u00a0 Sadly so far, not one of them seems to be legitimate.
\nAfter a little Googling, spammers ofter include commercial website links in their comments to artificially increase their search engine ranking…which is lovely for them, but a proper pain in the bottom for the receiver.
\nHow do I know it’s spam?
\nWell, first off, I have about 2 readers…so it’s fair to say neither myself or my husband are commenting on my posts.\u00a0 That leaves spammers.
\nBut, in a miracle world where more people read my blog, what are the clues to look out for?<\/p>\n
Every once in a while, the comment is almost tailored to the blog.\u00a0 It can be hard to decipher if it’s genuine.\u00a0 I almost wanted to believe this one as it was complimentary!<\/p>\n
“Having read this I thought it was extremely enlightening.
\nI appreciate you spending some time and energy to put this content together.” Sadly, it was just spam.<\/p>\n
Other times there are links to their websites.\u00a0 The comment can be complete nonsense too, like it was generated by a computer.\u00a0 Then, there can be mentions of special offers.<\/p>\n

\nWell, I moderate each and every comment that comes through to my blog.\u00a0 I imagine if you have a popular blog (ie, more than 2 readers), this would be time consuming and I understand there are Plug Ins available to help (but not totally eliminate) this problem.\u00a0 For now, I have the option to Approve, Spam or Trash all my comments to avoid it being displayed on my blog.
