{"id":217,"date":"2018-03-30T14:34:14","date_gmt":"2018-03-30T14:34:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.smudgeonthelens.co.uk\/?p=217"},"modified":"2018-03-30T14:34:14","modified_gmt":"2018-03-30T14:34:14","slug":"changing-font","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.smudgeonthelens.co.uk\/?p=217","title":{"rendered":"Changing Font"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m after a bit more creative control with my blog.\u00a0 At the moment, with the basic Word Press functionality, I can&#8217;t change the style or size of font.<br \/>\nThese are the <em>exciting<\/em> options I have.\u00a0 Yep, there&#8217;s Italics.\u00a0 Woohoo.\u00a0 And a bit of <strong>bold<\/strong>.\u00a0 Not exactly boat floating material.\u00a0 I do have the exciting ability to strikethrough&#8230;but I&#8217;ve never really understood the purpose of that.\u00a0 I feel like if it&#8217;s a mistake, I&#8217;d delete it.\u00a0 I guess it&#8217;s for <del>irony<\/del> making a point.<br \/>\nSo, with the Word Press options, I can do this (sorry for the lack of inspirational sentences):<\/p>\n<h1>I believe I can fly &#8211; heading 1<\/h1>\n<h2>I can see a rainbow &#8211; heading 2<\/h2>\n<h3>I saw a mouse with clogs on &#8211; heading 3<\/h3>\n<h4>Catch a falling star &#8211; heading 4<\/h4>\n<h5>Doe a deer &#8211; heading 5<\/h5>\n<h6>The Hills are alive&#8230; &#8211; heading 6<\/h6>\n<pre>Insert something funny here - preformatted<\/pre>\n<p>I suppose the benefit of having few options is that it keep things consistent, but it is a tad boring.<br \/>\nSo, after doing a bit of digging about in Google, I don&#8217;t think I&#8217;ll have the option to select different fonts.\u00a0 I think they&#8217;re all linked to the Word Press theme selected.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve found this article though, and I&#8217;m going to give <em>Method 2<\/em> a go\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wpbeginner.com\/beginners-guide\/how-to-change-the-font-size-in-wordpress\/\">http:\/\/www.wpbeginner.com\/beginners-guide\/how-to-change-the-font-size-in-wordpress\/<\/a><br \/>\nOooh, so I&#8217;ve installed it.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve now got a drop down menu of about 15 fonts.\u00a0 Some of the ridiculously stupid ones like this (<span style=\"font-family: symbol;\">What&#8217;s the point?), Webdings and\u00a0<span style=\"font-family: wingdings, 'zapf dingbats';\">Wingdings\u00a0 (<\/span><\/span>\u00a0(that&#8217;s Webdings and Wingdings).\u00a0 But I&#8217;ve also got the option to change font sizes from<span style=\"color: #666699;\"><span style=\"font-size: 8pt;\"> this <span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">t<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">o<\/span> a<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"> whooping<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: 24pt;\">great big<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: 36pt;\">this!<\/span><\/span><br \/>\nThat&#8217;ll give me the ability to shout!\u00a0 Still though, what the website warned was that<span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino, serif;\"> <strong>&#8220;the biggest downside of this method is if you ever change themes, you have to account for all the font size changes you made in individual posts.&#8221;\u00a0<\/strong><\/span> So, if I do go making my posts all fancy with different fonts and sizes, then change the look of my website, it&#8217;ll wipe out everything I&#8217;ve done.\u00a0 Good to know.<br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: 'trebuchet ms', geneva, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-family: verdana, geneva, sans-serif;\">For now though, I do like having one or two more options to tinker with.\u00a0 I have to admit, I&#8217;ll have to rein it in, as this post is looking a bit messy visually.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m after a bit more creative control with my blog.\u00a0 At the moment, with the basic Word Press functionality, I can&#8217;t &hellip;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.smudgeonthelens.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/217"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.smudgeonthelens.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.smudgeonthelens.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.smudgeonthelens.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.smudgeonthelens.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=217"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.smudgeonthelens.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/217\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.smudgeonthelens.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=217"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.smudgeonthelens.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=217"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.smudgeonthelens.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=217"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
